The Best Restaurants in the Stockholm Archipelago
One of the real joys of sailing through the Stockholm Archipelago is discovering the restaurants tucked away on its islands. After a day on the water, there’s nothing quite like tying up at a guest harbor and enjoying a great meal overlooking the Baltic Sea. Whether you’re looking for a relaxed seafood lunch or an unforgettable gourmet dinner, the archipelago offers some of Sweden’s finest waterfront dining.

If you’re visiting the Stockholm Archipelago, be sure to stop at Ornö Brödbod & Deli, home to what many consider the best gourmet pizza in the archipelago, as well as the newly opened Ornö Krog. Located side by side in the beautiful harbour of Kyrkviken, right next to the guest marina, both are led by acclaimed chefs Oscar and Claes. Their creative blend of Scandinavian and Southern European cuisine, combined with genuine hospitality and exceptional quality, has quickly made Ornö one of the archipelago’s most exciting culinary destinations. Whether you arrive by boat or ferry, this is a place that’s absolutely worth the trip—a true must-visit for sailors and food lovers alike.
One of our favorite stops is Restaurant J, just outside central Stockholm in Nacka Strand and conveniently next to our pier. It’s an easy destination for your first or last day on the water, with beautiful views, excellent Swedish cuisine, and a peaceful setting that feels far removed from the city despite being only minutes away.

Further out in the archipelago, Sandhamn has long been one of Sweden’s most famous sailing destinations. During the summer months, the harbor comes alive with yachts from across Scandinavia and beyond. Restaurants such as Sjöboden and Sandhamns Värdshus are known for fresh seafood, local ingredients, and a lively atmosphere where you can sit outside and watch the boats come and go late into the evening.

If you’re searching for a quieter experience, Grinda Wärdshus is well worth the visit. Set among forests and meadows, this historic inn serves beautifully prepared seasonal dishes inspired by Swedish traditions. It’s the kind of place where a long lunch can easily turn into an afternoon spent enjoying the island before continuing your journey.
Another classic destination is Utö Värdshus, one of the oldest inns in the Stockholm Archipelago. The restaurant combines history, charm, and excellent food, with menus that celebrate fresh seafood and seasonal Swedish ingredients. Before or after dinner, take some time to wander through the village or explore the island’s scenic walking trails.
Bullandö Krog is one of the Stockholm Archipelago’s most popular waterfront restaurants and a favorite stop for boaters. Located beside the bustling Bullandö Marina, it offers a relaxed yet stylish atmosphere with beautiful sea views. The menu focuses on fresh seafood, grilled specialties, and seasonal Swedish ingredients, making it an ideal destination for lunch, dinner, or a sunset meal after a day of sailing. During summer, the lively marina creates a wonderful archipelago atmosphere.
Closer to Stockholm, Fjäderholmarnas Krog offers an elegant dining experience just a short boat ride from the city. It’s an ideal stop if you’re looking to enjoy fine Nordic cuisine without venturing too far into the outer islands.
The beauty of dining in the Stockholm Archipelago isn’t only about the food. Every island has its own personality, every harbor tells a different story, and arriving by boat makes the experience even more memorable. Some evenings you’ll find yourself enjoying a relaxed dinner on a quiet island with only a handful of other guests. On others, you’ll be surrounded by bustling marinas filled with sailors swapping stories long after the sun has set.
For many visitors, these memorable meals become just as much a highlight of their journey as the sailing itself. Great food, spectacular scenery, and the freedom to explore one island after another are all part of what makes the Stockholm Archipelago one of the world’s finest cruising destinations.
